During the Eredivisie match sc Heerenveen against FC Emmen, there were 15 thousand teddy bears with a Heerenveen shirt in the Abe Lenstra stadium. The Children Cancer Free Foundation (KiKa), the football club and drug company MSD wanted to draw attention to children in the Netherlands who have cancer with the playful supporters campaign.
With the collaboration, KiKa responded cleverly to the corona measures, since there is no longer a ‘real’ audience allowed to attend the matches.
KiKa explains that the foundation, like many other charity events, misses a large part of the income because fundraising campaigns cannot or may not go ahead. KiKa still needs funding to fund research into (childhood) cancer.
