Replacing irrelevant street names with local heroes in Italy

In the picturesque and historical city of Fuecchio, Italy, the everything speaks of local life. Except for the names of the streets. Streets are called “via John Lennon” or “via Riccaro Wagner”. Pretty irrelevant for a beautiful little town in Italy. That’s why the city council decided to change this in the Local Heroes project. Streets names were replaced by names of locals that have influenced the recent history of the city.

Locals could suggest their own city hero for the new street names on a website. Silvio Doddoli for example, who is not known in the nearby villages but in Fuecchio he is a driving force. Those people were surprised with their own street name sign and their reactions were priceless.
